However, by then the foetus will be six months old, and it will be too risky to go in for an abortion at that late stage of pregnancy.
The Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate directed the police to conduct a blood test on the accused Anand and Priyanka, following which a DNA test to ascertain paternity can be conducted after a six-month wait.
It also means that Anand would remain behind bars till the DNA test is completed. Anand's bail application has been rejected on three occasions, and the police are yet to file a charge sheet.
The north Deputy Commissioner of Police K S Revanna said, "It is up to the court to decide on this matter. We will execute the court's orders."u00a0u00a0
Meanwhile, Anand's parents have approached Priyanka requesting her for an out of the court settlement, with an assurance that Anand would treat both Priyanka and Tirumala as his wives.
"They have also offered her Rs 5 lakh as compensation, as they want her to carry the pregnancy to term. They have sought help from underworld don Mutthappa Rai's, Jai Karnataka Sangh to mediate a solution," said a source.
Priyanka, however, expressed fears that Anand's parents were merely trying to get their son out on bail. "I am not fighting for money. I am not a beggar. I have to wait because for the DNA test, the baby's blood sample is also required along with that of the parent's. I have no option but to continue with my pregnancy. Anand's parents are saying Anand is free now and is living in Banashankari area with his wife Tirumala."u00a0
Tirumala, however, confirmed that Anand was still in jail. "I am living with my parents in Vijaynagar, and I am not sure what shape my future will take," said Tirumala.u00a0
